Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)

At FICS we are committed to providing our students with high quality careers education, along with independent and impartial careers information, advice and guidance. This is a vital part of preparing our students for their futures.

CEIAG is delivered through the curriculum during Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education (PSHCE) lessons that are delivered in 2 x 25-minute sessions per week and through continuous input and support from the Careers Lead, Falkland College.

The Careers Lead provides 1:1 impartial guidance meetings with our students, delivers a programme across all year groups that complements our PSHCE curriculum, workshops, Year 10 Work Experience placements and the annual Careers Day that welcomes employers from across the islands into FICS to raise aspirations and provide all students with opportunities to learn about the world of work.

Our students learn about:

  • Valuing equality
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Self-awareness
  • Self-determination
  • Self-improvement
  • Recognising transferable skills into the work place
  • Job applications
  • CV writing
  • Post 16 options
